Lago Carrera is the second largest freshwater lake in South America with a total of 970 km2 in Chile plus another 880 km2 in Argentina.

On the Chilean side, you can find emerald green to turquoise waters and these amazing marble caves sculpted by erosion. There are three main marble formations, The Chapel, The Cathedral and The Cave. All of them can be visited from a small boat.

Geologists say the finely ground glacial silt makes the water an unearthly blue and crystal clear. Light bounces into the caverns and strikes the carved marble walls creating an enchanting light show, always different depending on the water level, the weather and the season!

A truly amazing place to visit next time you are in Chile. If you need to rent a car in Chile or anywhere else in the world, check our latest offers and locations here: www.autoturistica.com.
